Why Haven't I Heard of Essentia?

Although Essentia has established itself as the premium manufacturer of non toxic, eco friendly mattresses in Canada and the USA, Essentia UK is a new venture, but our worl leading, natural mattresses are getting a great deal of attention.

What is Natural Memory Foam?

Every memory foam in the world is made from by products of the petrochemical industry - except ours. Determined to produce something healthy, eco friendly and sustainable we researched and developed a completely natural memory foam. It's more expensive to make than petrochemical based memory foam, but we think the results are worth it.

Is Our Latex Organic?

We would love to use organic latex, but unfortunately there isn't a worldwide system to certify organic latex. As soon as organic latex becomes available we'll buy it, until then we only use Oeko-Tex certified latex.

Why Don't We Use Wool?

Other premium eco mattresses sometimes use a layer of wool to improve the comfort of their product.
We use our natural memory foam instead, it's more comfortable. Wool is high maintenance compared to our natural memory foam becuase it's a natural fibre and requires regular washing - unless treated with chemicals, which we don't like.

Many companies use wool as a cynical marketing ploy, as it lets them use words like 'organic', 'eco mattress' and 'natural', which may be true of the wool but is certainly not true of the chemical based foams, fire retardents and adhesives used in the rest of the mattress.

Comfort - We believe our mattresses are, quite simply, the most comfortable you can buy. This is because we use natural memory foam which distributes weight better than even the best spring mattresses or wool topped latex mattresses.

Genuinely Natural Materials - We invented and patented the worlds only natural memory foam, made entirely from natural latex. We use the best, most expensive, most natural latex available. When we found that the organic cotton fabrics that were available contained polyester filler, we went to Italy and had an Italian fabric mill re configure their production line to make us a truly natural, unbleached, 100 % cotton fabric with organic backing, filler and dyes.

Does it Take Long to Adjust to a Memory Foam Mattress?

If you are used to a spring mattress, it can take a few weeks to get used to the support and comfort that our memory foam mattresses provide.

Is Our Memory Foam Heat Sensitive?

Although our memory foam is heat sensitive, it's over 90% less sensitive to heat than petrochemical based foam.
Regular memory foam will take a few minutes to adjust, ours takes seconds, so it doesn't matter how warm or cool you like to be when you sleep, our mattresses will remain consistent.

What Type of Bed Frames are Suitable for Our Mattresses?

The best type of surface for our natural mattresses is a flat, rigid surface. A slatted frame, european style platform or box spring with a flat top is perfect.

If your bed frame has springs, you can modify it easily by simply laying a sheet of plywood on top of it before placing your Essentia mattress on top of it.

How Do I Care For My Essentia Mattress?

Easy!

No need to flip or rotate
Machine wash the cover in cold water with a mild detergent, don't use bleach.
If it gets wet, pat dry with a dry cloth then allow to air dry.
Ensure your Essentia mattress is placed on a flat, rigid surface.
