Choosing a Memory Foam Mattress

With all the choices available and the difference in prices and quality it's important that you know exactly what you are getting when you buy a memory foam mattress.

Cheap Memory Foam Mattresses

Cheap memory foam mattresses are cheap for a number good reasons.
  • Often they are made from low density foam, which is cheaper but doesn't last. All our mattresses are made from high density foam that will out last low density foam by up to 10 years. We're so confident that our mattresses will last that you get a 20 year guarantee.
  • The worst of the lower quality memory foam mattresses are nothing more than a thin layer of memory foam glued (with toxic glue) to a thick layer of normal foam rubber. All our mattresses are made from 100% natural latex foam all the way through.
  • Lower quality memory foam hardens over time and eventually becomes flat and unsupportive.


Other Premium Memory Foam Mattresses

Even the very best traditional memory foam mattresses have drawbacks:
  • They are made from petrochemicals, byproducts of the oil industry, and in most cases toxic glues and solvents are used. Essentia mattresses are made from latex, a completely natural and sustainable material with no toxic solvents or glues.
  • They don't breathe, petrochemical based memory foam does not allow air to circulate which can can cause discomfort from overheating and a build up of odours. Our natural latex based foam is 80% more breathable than chemical foam and has no unpleasant chemical smell.
Memory Foam Toppers

Memory foam mattress toppers are nothing more than thin slabs of petrochemical based memory foam designed to sit on top of your existing mattress. We dont make mattress toppers because we simply do not belive that they provide any real benefit.

If your mattress is not providing adequate support, a mattress topper will not help, if your mattress sags in the middle then the toper will simply sag with it. If your mattress is too soft, a topper will make it softer still and may make the problem worse.

We're not saying that mattress toppers are bad, but if you want genuine support and relief from back, neck, shoulder or other problems caused by poor support then there is no substitute for a quality mattress, crafted from the best materials by experts.
